How to turn a Mobile SIM into a PBX extension

With mobility increasing in demand, it’s important to be able to enable PBX users to extend functionality to their mobile devices. That’s why we have enabled SIM / SIP integration for effective integration of mobiles with PBX solutions.

We maintain a record of all relevant SIMs, so that when they attach to the network, we automatically make a parallel registration via SIP into the relevant PBX – just like a normal SIP client or SIP desk phone would. When caller select the appropriate extension, the call is routed to the device containing the SIM, treating it as a normal extension.

On the other hand, when the SIM-user places a call, we can collect the digits from the resulting CAMEL trigger and then instruct the MSC to route the call to our gateway, from where we translate it to SIP and direct it to the PBX, where all normal call handling logic will be applied.

It’s a useful feature, both for enabling new services and for offering an enhanced mobile experience to existing PBX clients. Why not get in touch to find out more?

It means the mobile can be a part of any hunt groups and auto-attendant functionality, for example – and it means the mobile can use standard short-code dialling to reach internal extensions. So, if you want to deliver a better mobile experience without the dependency on apps, this is the ideal solution. To find out more, simply get in touch with our experts!
